Workings of An optical mouse

  An optical mouse emits a a bright light onto the surface from a light emitting diode (LED) at the bottom of your mouse (this is where the ball of your typical mouse would be at). The light gets reflected by the surface which is detected by a photoelectric cell  also found at the bottom of the cell. This cell has a lens which magnifies the reflected light so the mouse can emulate your hand movements with the cursor on your screen. As you move your mouse a pattern of reflected light is formed which is then translated to cursor movements in a chip in your mouse. That means that an optical mouse in entirely electronic and with little moving parts. What is it made up of that allows it to do so?(I was very curious about this.) Above is the inside of an optical mouse and a few main components. What are they? AtomX a superhero proposal

  AtomX: Superhero Proposal We have grown-up listening and seeing stories of many superheroes with their cool superpowers be it Spiderman with his web shooters or Captain America with his strength the list is endless. Usually we like to see superheroes in action but given this opportunity to design our own superhero almost seems surreal. Hence I present to you “AtomX” who has the power to alter structural integrity of materials and can become invisible. How is this scientifically possible? Power 1#:Altering Structural Integrity via Creep Deformation Many common materials around us are crystalline which are regular or repeating structures at atomic level. There are two types of point defects in these crystalline structures, vacancy and interstitial. A vacancy refers to an atom being taken away from the material, which is commonly used in steel-making. It can be produced via thermal agitation by increasing temperatures, which provide space for atoms to vibrate, shift  to another...
